More Pop / R&B then Neo Soul, however I was messing around on the keyboard the other day and worked out of chords Disturbia by Rhianna.
It seems to be a simple repetition of the following chords:
Bmin7th or 9th
Amaj
Gmaj7th
You should be able easily improvise with your right hand in the key of "D"...

I have recently learnt some new interesting theory on the keyboard. It is the magical circle of 5th's which shows the relationship of Major chords. This is very useful for me since it allows me to alter the Maj/Root note for variety. Please a series of related Major chords has a very nice gospel feel to it...

Although this is good for originality it may be difficult for other musicians to join in if the key or chords are not clear. A guitarist may not always be able to recognise a chord played on the keyboard since they won't understand the finger positioning...

For the Jazzier type of r&b or neo soul genre, people tend to use deeper chords with a lot of tension creating a certain mood, the chords tend not to end in a Major key.
