For the melody you can also use the Amin (Pentatonic) which is simlar to Cmaj. However, the Amin Pentatonic uses just, A, C, D, E and G.
The chord notation would be as follows:
2-3-4(7#5)-2-3-4(Maj).
note that the 4 is a borrowed chord, Amin is not used. A7 is used the first time, and then Amaj the second time.
ii-iii-IV7#5-ii-iii-IV
The 7#5 (Seventh sharpened 5th) just adds a little more depth or disonance to the progression.
